The Milky Way Galaxy

The Milky Way Galaxy is 100,000 light years across and is a spiral galaxy. Our solar system, which is home to our earth, lays on one of the outer spiral arms of the Milky Way. In this picture we are looking straight back into the centre of our galaxy.

This picture was taken in Australia on a cattle farm about 200 km north west of Sydney. The cattle farm is 25 km2 and its dark sky location makes it a very good location for Astrophotography.
