Sun

The Sun is our nearest star and the central figure in our solar system with a mass 330,000 times that of Earth. The Sun is composed of 3/4 hydrogen, 1/4 helium, and mere traces of other elements. In this picture a massive solar flare about 5 times bigger than our earth was being ejected into space.

This picture of the Sun was taken during a warm and clear autumn day at the Distant Suns Observatory, Inasa-cho, Shibukawa.
